Mumbai BMW Crash: 3 Students Killed After Car Falls From Coastal Road, CCTV Footage Emerges
A deadly Mumbai BMW crash has killed three students and injured another. The accident took place on the Coastal Road early Sunday morning. CCTV footage has also emerged from the area. It shows the BMW crashing through a barrier before falling from the elevated road.
Mumbai BMW Crash: What Happened
The crash took place at around 5:20 am near Lotus Jetty. The location is opposite Lala Lajpatrai College. The BMW was heading from Marine Drive towards Haji Ali.
According to police, the car was moving at high speed. The driver then lost control near a turn. The BMW hit the outer railing and fell into an under-construction parking area. The crash badly damaged the car.
Three Students Died In The Crash
The BMW had four students from Ahmedabad. All four were taken to Nair Hospital after the crash. Doctors later declared three students dead.
The victims were identified as Shanaya Gajjal, 21, Aditya Jakasania, 20, and Dhirya Seth, 17. The fourth student is 20 years old. He suffered serious injuries and remains in critical condition.
According to police, the BMW belonged to Gajjal’s family. The students had reportedly visited Marine Drive before the accident. Police are now checking the events that happened before the crash.
CCTV Footage Shows The Crash
The CCTV footage shows the BMW travelling along the Coastal Road. Moments later, the car hits the barrier. It then goes over the edge of the elevated road and falls into the area below.
Police are investigating the exact cause of the crash. Officials are examining CCTV footage and other evidence. They are also checking whether speed and the sharp turn played a role in the accident.
The investigation is still underway. Police are expected to release more details as they examine the evidence and record statements from those involved.
