India Targets Hafiz Saeed: Court Summons to Reach Pakistan Over Pahalgam Case
BH24 BREAKING NEWS
India has intensified its legal action against Hafiz Saeed, the Lashkar-e-Taiba founder accused in the Pahalgam terror attack case. Authorities are now preparing to send court summons to Pakistan through diplomatic channels.
The summons will be forwarded to Pakistan’s foreign ministry through India’s Ministry of External Affairs. The move follows a non-bailable warrant issued against Saeed by a special NIA court in Jammu.
Why India Is Sending Summons to Pakistan
Hafiz Saeed is currently in Pakistan, which makes direct service of an Indian court order difficult. Officials will therefore use diplomatic channels to formally communicate the court’s directions.
The latest step does not mean Saeed has been arrested or extradited to India. It is part of the legal process being pursued against him while he remains outside Indian jurisdiction.
Hafiz Saeed Named in Pahalgam Investigation
The National Investigation Agency named Saeed in a supplementary chargesheet linked to the April 22, 2025 Pahalgam terror attack.
The attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Baisaran Valley killed 26 people, including tourists and a local civilian. The NIA has described Saeed as a key figure in the alleged conspiracy behind the attack.
A Jammu court subsequently issued a non-bailable warrant against him. Since Saeed remains in Pakistan, the investigation has moved towards legal proceedings that can continue even without his physical presence in India.
Another Legal Battle Over 26/11
The latest development comes as Indian authorities are also pursuing action against Saeed in the 2008 Mumbai terror attack case.
Mumbai Police have approached the Union Home Ministry to help serve proclamation orders through Interpol against six absconding accused. The move is aimed at initiating the process for their trial in absentia.
The two cases put Saeed at the centre of India’s continuing legal efforts against Pakistan-based terror accused. The next step will depend on the formal service of the court documents and further proceedings before the Indian courts.
