Pulkit Mani Cancels 3 UP Shows After Rahul Gandhi Event Controversy

Stand-up comedian Pulkit Mani has cancelled three shows in Uttar Pradesh after a controversy over his appearance at a Rahul Gandhi event in Indore. The shows were scheduled in Noida, Lucknow and Kanpur. Mani said he cancelled the Lucknow and Kanpur shows after receiving what he described as “repeated threats”. He did not publicly identify the people behind the alleged threats.

The controversy began on September 19, when Mani appeared at Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Chhatron Ki Goonj’ event in Indore. During the programme, he performed a skit mimicking Prime Minister Narendra Modi. A video of the performance later spread across social media and drew reactions from political leaders. BJP leaders criticised the performance and questioned the use of political figures in the act.

Pulkit Mani Cancels Shows After Alleged Threats

Mani first announced the cancellation of his Noida show, citing “unforeseen circumstances”. He later cancelled his Lucknow and Kanpur shows and referred to repeated threats in his statement. The reports available so far do not establish who made the alleged threats or whether they were connected to any particular political organisation. The cancellations have added another dimension to the controversy surrounding his Indore performance.

BJP And Congress React To The Indore Performance

The performance has triggered criticism from BJP leaders, who have demanded an apology over the mimicry of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Congress leaders, meanwhile, have defended the event and described the performance as political satire. The programme itself focused on issues concerning students and young people, including education and employment. With three Uttar Pradesh shows cancelled, the controversy surrounding Pulkit Mani’s performance continues to attract attention online and across political circles.
