The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls has sparked a fresh political row.
The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) has criticised Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke has called for Kumar’s resignation.
The demand comes amid reports of differences within the Election Commission.

The Election Commission is carrying out a Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls.
The process aims to check voter lists. It can also lead to the addition or removal of names after verification.
A recent report by The Indian Express said two Election Commissioners had raised objections on several occasions.
The report said the objections covered voter additions and deletions. They also covered changes to Form 6 and parts of the SIR process.
CJP targets Gyanesh Kumar
CJP has strongly criticised the Chief Election Commissioner.
The party has linked its demand to the wider debate over the SIR process. It has also called for greater focus on voting rights and electoral reforms.
However, the claims about differences within the Election Commission remain disputed.
Election Commission gives its response
The Election Commission has rejected the suggestion of a breakdown in its decision-making process.
EC sources said that discussions and differences can take place during the decision-making process.
They also said that key decisions, including those linked to SIR, were approved by all three Election Commissioners.
The issue has now become part of a wider political debate over voter lists and the role of the Election Commission.
