Narendra Modi Stadium Bomb Threat Turns Out to Be Hoax During India-Australia U-19 Match
Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium faced a security scare on Wednesday after receiving a bomb threat email. The threat came while the India Under-19 and Australia Under-19 teams were at the stadium for their second Youth Test.
The email triggered an immediate security response. Police, the Cyber Crime Cell and security teams reached the stadium. Bomb detection teams also searched the premises. Authorities later confirmed that the threat was a hoax. No explosive device was found.
Bomb Threat Reaches Narendra Modi Stadium
The threatening email reportedly reached the Gujarat Cricket Association at around 11 am. Both teams were still at the venue when the email arrived. The association immediately informed the local police and Cyber Crime Cell.
Security teams began checking the stadium soon after. The players were not informed about the threat at first. The match ended at around 11:15 am. Both teams were then briefed about the situation.
The players left the stadium safely after following security protocols. Police and security officials also conducted a detailed search of the venue. They found no suspicious object or explosive device.
Officials later declared the threat a hoax. Investigators have now started tracing the source of the email.
Ahmedabad Schools Also Receive Threat Emails
The stadium was not the only location targeted. Around 10 private schools in Ahmedabad also received similar bomb threat emails on Wednesday.
Police teams, bomb squads and sniffer dog units reached the affected schools. Several schools sent students home as a precaution. Parents were also asked to collect their children.
Security teams searched the school premises but found nothing suspicious. Authorities later confirmed that the school threats were also hoaxes.
The emails also mentioned upcoming concerts by singer Diljit Dosanjh. They referred to his November 1 concert at Delhi’s Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium and his November 21 concert at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
Police Begin Investigation
The repeated threats have raised security concerns across Ahmedabad. Authorities are examining the emails and their digital trail. Investigators are working to identify the sender.
No injuries or damage were reported during the security scare. Both cricket teams left the stadium safely after the checks.
The searches also ended without any explosive device being found. Police are continuing their investigation into the threatening emails.
