India-Pakistan Navy Ships Collide in Arabian Sea

The India-Pakistan Navy ships collision happened in the North Arabian Sea on September 15. The incident took place in international waters. An Indian Navy warship was carrying out a routine surveillance mission when a Pakistani naval vessel came close to it.

India has now raised the issue with Pakistan. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) summoned Pakistan’s Charge d’Affaires in New Delhi. India also lodged a strong protest over the incident.

India-Pakistan Navy Ships Collision Happened at Sea

The collision happened on Tuesday evening. According to Indian officials, the Pakistani naval vessel approached the Indian warship at high speed.

The Pakistani vessel was also reportedly making unsafe manoeuvres. The Indian Navy ship was on a routine surveillance mission at the time. However, the collision did not cause major damage.

Officials have not released all operational details about the two vessels. Further information may become available after authorities review the incident.

India Says Pakistani Vessel Broke Agreement

The MEA said the Pakistani naval vessel’s conduct was unacceptable and unprofessional. India also referred to the 1991 India-Pakistan Agreement.

The agreement covers advance notice for military exercises, manoeuvres and troop movements. Article 10 also includes rules for naval vessels operating in international waters.

According to Reuters, the agreement requires naval ships and submarines from both countries to maintain a distance of at least three nautical miles from each other in international waters.

Pakistan Diplomat Summoned in Delhi

After the incident, India summoned Pakistan’s Charge d’Affaires. The diplomat was called to the Ministry of External Affairs in New Delhi.

India asked the Pakistani representative to convey its concerns to authorities in Islamabad. New Delhi also stressed the need for military units to follow existing agreements.

The government said such precautions are important to avoid similar incidents at sea.

India Raises Issue in Islamabad

India has also taken action through its diplomatic mission in Pakistan. New Delhi instructed its Charge d’Affaires in Islamabad to raise the matter with Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry.

Therefore, India has formally raised the issue through diplomatic channels in both countries. The move comes after the reported collision in the Arabian Sea.

Pakistan Response Awaited

Pakistan had not immediately issued a public response to the incident, according to the latest reports on September 16.

The collision caused no major damage, but it has led to a fresh diplomatic exchange between the two countries. Officials may provide more details after reviewing what happened.

For now, India has asked Pakistan to ensure greater care by its military units. New Delhi has also stressed the importance of following existing bilateral agreements at sea.
