ISRO’s Big Space Plan: 8 Launches, 12 Satellites and a Space Station by 2035
BH24 Breaking News
India is preparing for a major expansion of its space programme. On National Space Day, ISRO Chairman Dr. V. Narayanan announced an ambitious roadmap for the coming year.
ISRO is targeting eight launch vehicle missions and 12 satellite missions during the current financial year. The missions are expected to support communication, navigation, Earth observation and scientific research.
ISRO Plans 8 Launch Vehicle Missions
The space agency wants to increase the pace of launches. The eight planned launch vehicle missions will support several national space programmes.
The satellite missions will also strengthen India’s capabilities in communication, navigation and Earth observation.
The announcement comes as India pushes towards larger human spaceflight and deep-space goals.
Gaganyaan Mission Gets Major Push
The Gaganyaan programme remains one of ISRO’s biggest priorities. The agency is preparing for an uncrewed test flight before sending Indian astronauts into space.
The mission will test critical systems needed for human spaceflight. These include the launch vehicle, spacecraft and life-support systems.
India Plans Its Own Space Station by 2035
India is also working towards the Bharatiya Antariksh Station (BAS). ISRO has set 2035 as the target for establishing the country’s own space station.
The first module has already received approval. The station is expected to support scientific research and long-duration human space missions.
From Chandrayaan-3 to Bigger Space Goals
National Space Day is observed on August 23 to commemorate Chandrayaan-3’s historic lunar landing in 2023.
Three years later, India’s space programme is moving towards a much bigger goal. ISRO is now focusing on human spaceflight, a national space station and future exploration missions.
India is also preparing for its Venus Orbiter Mission, which is targeted for launch in March 2028.
What This Means for India
The latest roadmap shows that India is moving beyond individual space missions towards a sustained space programme.
With more launches, new satellites, Gaganyaan and the planned space station, ISRO is preparing for a bigger role in global space exploration.
