BH24 BREAKING NEWS

Delhi E-rickshaw battery blast: Two people were killed after a suspected e-rickshaw battery explosion triggered a major fire inside a building in West Delhi’s Raghubir Nagar early Monday morning. The incident took place on Gurudwara Road at around 4:42 am, according to the Delhi Fire Service.

Fire Erupts After Suspected Battery Blast

The blaze broke out on the first floor of a building containing a ground floor and four upper floors. Domestic articles stored on the floor caught fire after the suspected battery explosion.

The sudden fire created a dangerous situation inside the building. Fire officials quickly responded after receiving the emergency call. Three water tenders and one water bowser were sent to the location to control the flames.

The Delhi Fire Service managed to bring the fire under control by 5:25 am. Officials are still investigating the exact circumstances that led to the suspected battery explosion.

Two People Die After Sustaining Burn Injuries

Two people suffered serious burn injuries in the incident. Rescue personnel rushed them to Guru Gobind Singh Hospital in Raghubir Nagar, where doctors declared both victims brought dead.

According to reports, the deceased were identified as 17-year-old Sufed, son of Mohammad Naseeb, and 38-year-old Mohammad Samid, son of Sheikh Ridki. One of the victims was reportedly a minor.

The deaths have shocked residents of the densely populated neighbourhood. Authorities are also assessing the extent of damage caused to the building and the property stored inside.

Investigation Underway Into Battery Explosion

The exact cause of the suspected battery blast has not yet been established. Officials have not ruled on whether a technical fault, battery condition, charging process or another factor triggered the explosion.

The incident has also renewed concerns about the safe storage and charging of batteries used in electric and e-rickshaws. Such batteries can pose serious fire risks if damaged, improperly charged or stored in unsafe conditions.

Authorities are expected to examine the battery, the storage area and other circumstances surrounding the fire as part of the investigation.

The Delhi Fire Service has confirmed that the blaze was brought under control quickly. Further details about the incident and the investigation are awaited.
