Ghaziabad: Traffic movement around the Delhi-Meerut Expressway has been severely affected due to the ongoing Kanwar Yatra. The expressway has been closed for regular traffic in parts of the route to facilitate the movement of Kanwariyas.
The closure has pushed regular vehicles towards alternative routes. As a result, heavy congestion has been reported on NH-9 and the Eastern Peripheral Expressway (EPE). Commuters travelling between Delhi, Ghaziabad and Meerut are facing longer travel times.
Delhi-Meerut Expressway Traffic Hit by Diversions
The Delhi-Meerut Expressway is an important route connecting Delhi with Ghaziabad and Meerut. With traffic restrictions in place for the Kanwar Yatra, a large volume of vehicles has shifted to nearby roads.
NH-9 and the Eastern Peripheral Expressway are now handling additional traffic. This has created bottlenecks at several points, especially during busy hours.
