The Ramayana Release Date has finally become clearer. Nitesh Tiwari’s much-awaited epic will arrive in international theatres on November 6, 2026, before opening in India on November 8, which coincides with Diwali. Producer Namit Malhotra has also explained why overseas audiences will get to watch the film two days earlier.
Why will Ramayana release overseas first?
According to Malhotra, November 6 falls on a Friday, the conventional day for major theatrical releases across several international markets. India, however, offers the makers an opportunity to launch the film directly on Diwali, which falls on Sunday, November 8 this year.
The different dates therefore form part of the film’s release strategy rather than indicating a delay in India.
The clarification is significant because Ramayana has been promoted as a global cinematic project. The makers have consistently highlighted plans to take the Indian epic to audiences beyond the domestic market.
Ranbir Kapoor leads the star-studded cast
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Ramayana: Part One features Ranbir Kapoor as Rama and Sai Pallavi as Sita. Yash plays Ravana, while Sunny Deol portrays Hanuman and Ravie Dubey appears as Lakshman.
The project is produced by Namit Malhotra’s Prime Focus Studios in association with Yash’s Monster Mind Creations. It has been filmed for IMAX, while Hans Zimmer and A.R. Rahman are handling the music.
The film is being developed as a two-part saga. While Part One arrives this Diwali, the second instalment is scheduled for Diwali 2027.
With the Ramayana Release Date now clarified, international audiences will get the first theatrical look on November 6, followed by the major Indian Diwali premiere two days later.
