India Women’s 4x400m Relay Wins Asian Games Gold

The India Women’s 4x400m Relay team won gold at the Asian Games 2026. The Indian quartet clocked 3:29.69 in the final. Bahrain finished second, while China took the bronze medal.

Kiran Pahal, M.R. Poovamma, Prachi Choudhary and Vithya Ramraj formed the Indian team. They produced a strong run to finish ahead of their rivals.

Kiran Pahal started the race for India. She kept the team close to the leading runners during the opening leg.

M.R. Poovamma then took the baton. She maintained India’s strong position and kept the medal race open.

Prachi Choudhary ran the third leg. She stayed with the leading teams before handing the baton to Vithya Ramraj.

Vithya Ramraj took charge of the final leg. She held off Bahrain’s challenge in the closing metres. Vithya then crossed the finish line first to seal the gold for India.

India finished in 3:29.69. Bahrain clocked 3:30.21 for silver. China completed the podium with 3:31.02.

Vithya Ramraj Anchors India To Victory

Vithya Ramraj played a key role in the final. She protected India’s lead during the final stretch and brought the baton home safely.

The relay victory added another major athletics medal to India’s Asian Games campaign. It also gave the Indian women’s relay team a memorable gold-medal finish.

Vithya had already made headlines during the Games. She won bronze in the women’s 400m hurdles and also broke P.T. Usha’s long-standing national record in the event.

The relay gold now gives the Indian contingent another major result to celebrate. The 3:29.69 timing placed India ahead of Bahrain and China in the women’s 4x400m final.
