A horrific road accident on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway killed at least seven people and injured more than 15 passengers. A sleeper bus hit a truck and burst into flames in Rajasthan’s Dausa district on Wednesday.

The crash triggered a huge fire. Passengers tried to escape as flames spread fast. Police, firefighters, and ambulance teams reached the spot quickly. They began a rescue operation at once.

Bus Engulfed in Flames After Collision

Officials said the sleeper bus was travelling from Rishikesh to Indore. It then crashed into a truck moving ahead on the expressway.

The impact was severe. The bus caught fire almost immediately. Thick smoke and high flames spread within moments. Passengers had very little time to react.

Some people escaped by breaking windows. Others were trapped inside the burning bus.

Seven Dead, Several in Critical Condition

Police confirmed that seven people died in the accident. Five were burnt to death. Two others later died from serious injuries.

More than 15 passengers suffered burn injuries and other wounds. They were taken to nearby hospitals. Several remain in critical condition.

Many passengers were asleep when the crash happened. That made escape even harder.

Large-Scale Rescue Effort

Local residents were among the first to reach the spot. They helped police and firefighters pull passengers out of the bus.

Firefighters fought the blaze for several minutes before bringing it under control. After that, ambulance teams shifted the injured to hospitals for urgent treatment.

Traffic on the expressway was briefly affected. Rescue teams later removed the damaged vehicles from the road.

Police Launch Probe

Police have started an investigation into the deadly crash.

Officials are checking whether speeding, driver fatigue, or negligence caused the accident. They are also inspecting both vehicles and collecting evidence from the site.

A detailed report will be prepared after the probe ends.

Renewed Concerns Over Highway Safety

The tragedy has once again raised concerns about road safety on India’s expressways.

Experts say regular vehicle checks are important. They also stress better driver awareness and strict traffic rule enforcement.

Families are grieving the victims. Authorities are monitoring the injured and investigating the cause of one of the region’s deadliest highway accidents this year.
