India enjoyed another medal-filled outing at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games on Tuesday, with shooter Neeru Dhanda winning gold in the women’s trap individual event. The result provided the biggest highlight of Asian Games 2026 India Day 11, while Indian athletes also made progress in boxing, archery and other events.
Neeru Dhanda delivers shooting gold
Neeru’s victory gave India its fifth gold medal of the Asian Games and the country’s first individual gold of this edition. Her triumph came after she had already contributed to another podium finish earlier in the day.
The women’s trap team of Neeru, Manisha Keer and Aashima Ahlawat secured silver, adding another medal from shooting to India’s campaign.
Indian archers also produced encouraging results. Dhiraj Bommadevara and Neeraj Chauhan advanced to the men’s recurve individual quarter-finals, with Neeraj defeating South Korea’s Olympic medallist Kim Je-deok 6-4.
Indian boxers secure more medals
India also received positive news from the boxing ring. Parveen Hooda booked her place in the women’s 65kg final with a 5-0 semi-final victory over China’s Li Shu. Ankush Panghal advanced to the men’s 80kg gold-medal bout after beating Uzbekistan’s Fazliddin Erkinboev 4-1.
Narender Berwal, meanwhile, secured bronze in the men’s +90kg category after his campaign ended in the semi-finals.
In tennis, Sumit Nagal progressed to the men’s singles pre-quarter-finals after defeating South Korea’s Hong Seong-chan 6-4, 6-0. Dhakshineswar Suresh also reached the pre-quarter-finals.
With athletics and several other medal events continuing, Asian Games 2026 India Day 11 remained a busy day for the Indian contingent in Aichi-Nagoya.
