Amitabh Bachchan’s Work Ethic Stands Out
The issue of rising entourage expenses in Bollywood has been discussed for years. Recently, veteran producer KC Bokadia spoke about it once again. He praised Amitabh Bachchan’s professional conduct and, at the same time, pointed out that many actors expect producers to pay for their personal teams. Amitabh Bachchan, however, follows a very different practice.
‘Big B Never Makes the Producer Pay for His Staff’
In a conversation, Bokadia said that Amitabh Bachchan pays for his makeup artist, spot boy, driver, and other private staff himself. He explained that Big B never expects the producer to cover those costs.
Moreover, he added that this is one reason Amitabh Bachchan stands apart from many other stars. As a result, it also helps explain his strong reputation in the industry.
Concerns Over Demands Despite Massive Fees
Without naming anyone, Bokadia said that many stars today charge between Rs 50 crore and Rs 100 crore for a film. Even after taking such huge fees, they still want the producer to pay for their entourage.
He questioned how fair it is to shift personal staff costs to the producer. In his view, this only increases the film’s budget. Furthermore, it creates unnecessary financial stress for producers.
Recalling the ‘Aaj Ka Arjun’ Shoot
Bokadia also remembered working with Amitabh Bachchan on ‘Aaj Ka Arjun’. He said that even then, Big B never passed his personal comfort or staff expenses to the producer.
According to the filmmaker, Amitabh Bachchan’s discipline, humility, and sense of duty remain an example for younger artists. In fact, he believes Big B’s respect for producers is what makes him truly unique.
A Strong Reminder for the Film Industry
KC Bokadia feels that if major stars pay their own personal expenses, film costs could come down a lot. He said actors should remember that the producer takes the financial risk of the whole project. Therefore, adding extra burdens is unfair.
Using Amitabh Bachchan as an example, he said that staying grounded and professional after success is what truly makes an artist great.
