The CJP Bengaluru protest will bring YouTuber Dhruv Rathee and actor Prakash Raj to Freedom Park on Thursday. The event focuses on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter lists.
The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) will hold a People’s Tribunal at the venue. The group will then stage a “chappal protest”. CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke and co-convener Ashutosh Ranka will lead the programme.
Dhruv Rathee and Prakash Raj Join
Rathee confirmed his participation in a video on social media. He said the campaign aims to protect democracy. Meanwhile, Prakash Raj has backed the event and urged people to join the protest.
The programme comes as CJP expands its campaign against the SIR exercise. The group wants the Election Commission to address concerns over voter lists. It has demanded the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
Tribunal to Hear Voter Concerns
The People’s Tribunal will give voters a chance to share their experiences. According to CJP, people from parts of Karnataka will attend the session.
Some participants say officials removed their names from voter lists during the SIR process. However, no independent source has verified these claims. CJP says the tribunal will put these concerns before the public.
After the tribunal, CJP will hold the “chappal protest”. The group describes it as a show of support for women journalists.
CJP Plans More Protests
The CJP Bengaluru protest is part of a larger campaign. Earlier, the group announced protests in several cities over SIR.
In addition, CJP plans a demonstration at Jantar Mantar in Delhi on October 10. The group says it wants to highlight voter rights, electoral rolls and the Election Commission.
As a result, the Bengaluru event could draw attention to the SIR debate. For now, CJP remains focused on its demands and the concerns raised by protesters.
