Delhi on High Alert as INDIA Bloc MPs Plan March to Election Commission Over SIR Row

New Delhi: Delhi is on high alert as INDIA bloc MPs prepare to march towards the Election Commission on Tuesday. The protest is linked to the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.

Security has been increased across central Delhi ahead of the planned march. Police have deployed additional personnel near the Election Commission office and other sensitive locations. Barricades have also been placed along parts of the expected route.

Security Tightened Ahead of Opposition March

Authorities are preparing for a large gathering near the Election Commission office. Police teams are monitoring key roads and protest locations. Traffic movement could also face restrictions in parts of central Delhi.

The security measures come after several protests by opposition leaders over the voter-list revision. Police detained protesters during earlier demonstrations as tensions increased around the issue.

Opposition Raises Concerns Over SIR

The INDIA bloc has strongly opposed the voter-list revision process. Opposition leaders have questioned the changes and demanded greater transparency from the Election Commission.

Opposition parties claim that the exercise could affect genuine voters. They have asked the poll panel to explain the process and address concerns over the inclusion and removal of names from electoral rolls.

The Election Commission has rejected allegations of wrongdoing. The poll panel has maintained that the revision is being conducted according to existing rules and procedures.

Supreme Court Also Examines Election Roll Changes

The SIR controversy has also reached the Supreme Court. The court recently raised questions about changes linked to Form 6, which eligible citizens use to apply for inclusion in electoral rolls.

The legal developments have added to the political pressure surrounding the voter-list revision. Opposition parties continue to demand answers from the Election Commission.

INDIA Bloc Plans Further Action

The opposition is also expected to meet President Droupadi Murmu to discuss its concerns over the SIR exercise. Leaders want the issue to receive attention at the highest level.

Meanwhile, security agencies are closely monitoring developments across the capital. The Election Commission remains at the centre of the dispute as the opposition prepares for Tuesday’s march.

The latest protest could further intensify the political confrontation over the voter-list revision. Security arrangements are expected to remain tight around major government and election-related offices in Delhi.
