A 17-year-old girl was allegedly gang-raped by three men who posed as policemen at a park near Delhi’s Kalkaji Mandir, police said. The incident took place on Monday evening after the teenager visited the temple with her 17-year-old male friend.
According to the complaint, the teenagers reached the nearby Aastha Kunj Park at around 7:30 pm after offering prayers. Three men, reportedly aged between 25 and 30, allegedly approached them and claimed to be police officers.
What Happened Near Kalkaji Mandir?
Police said the men allegedly threatened the two teenagers and restrained the girl’s friend. The girl was then allegedly sexually assaulted.
A PCR call was received at around 8:45 pm. Police reached the area and arranged a medical examination for the girl. A case was registered under relevant provisions of law, including the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
One Accused Arrested After Encounter
Police teams examined CCTV footage from the park and surrounding areas as part of the investigation.
One suspect, identified as Asif in police-related reports, was later apprehended following an exchange of fire with police. Reports said he suffered a gunshot injury to his leg. The other two accused are still being traced.
The investigation remains underway, with police working to establish the complete sequence of events and identify the remaining suspects.
