India completed a 3-0 T20I series sweep over Afghanistan after winning the third T20I by 127 runs in New Delhi on September 17. The match belonged to Abhishek Sharma, who produced a stunning century as India posted 221/7 before dismissing Afghanistan for just 94.
Abhishek Sharma Creates History
Abhishek Sharma blasted 108 runs from 34 balls, with nine fours and 11 sixes. He reached his century in only 30 balls, breaking Rohit Sharma’s previous record for the fastest T20I hundred by an Indian batter.
Abhishek and Sanju Samson gave India a flying start with a 142-run opening partnership. Samson contributed a quick 50 from 35 balls, while captain Shreyas Iyer added 29. India eventually finished on 221/7.
Afghanistan Collapse in the Chase
Afghanistan struggled from the beginning of their chase. Axar Patel removed Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Sediqullah Atal, while Jasprit Bumrah dismissed Darwish Rasooli.
Nitish Kumar Reddy then took three wickets as Afghanistan collapsed to 94 all out in 14.1 overs. Ibrahim Zadran top-scored with 25.
The India vs Afghanistan 3rd T20I ended with a comprehensive 127-run victory for India, completing a 3-0 series sweep. Abhishek Sharma’s record-breaking century was the standout performance of the series finale.
