Delhi Crime: 17-Year-Old Girl Allegedly Raped and Stabbed to Death, Four Held
A 17-year-old girl was allegedly raped and stabbed to death in Delhi before her body was dumped in an open field, police said. Four people, including three juveniles, have been apprehended in connection with the case.
The girl’s decomposed body was found near Jaipal Rana’s field on Kushak Road on September 13. Police said the condition of the body made it difficult to immediately establish the victim’s identity. Investigators later identified her and began tracing the circumstances surrounding her death.
Delhi Crime Case: Police Track Tempo Through CCTV
According to police, the girl knew the accused persons. Investigators suspect that she went with them in a tempo. Police said the group allegedly drank inside the vehicle before the girl was sexually assaulted and later stabbed.
There was no apparent eyewitness to the crime. Police teams then examined footage from more than 50 CCTV cameras installed around the area and along adjoining routes.
During the investigation, officers noticed a tempo moving near the suspected location around the relevant time. The vehicle’s registration number was not clearly visible because of darkness. Police subsequently tracked its movement through several CCTV locations.
Four Held in Delhi Girl Murder Case
A night-long search operation was carried out between September 15 and 16. Police traced the suspected tempo to Khadda Colony in the Swaroop Nagar area and questioned its driver.
The investigation led to the apprehension of four people. Police identified the adult accused as Shivam alias Sudama alias Chuchu, a resident of Khadda Colony. The other three accused are juveniles aged 16 and 17.
Police said two knives allegedly linked to the crime, clothes allegedly worn by the accused and the tempo were recovered.
A case has been registered under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
Police said further investigation is underway to establish the exact sequence of events and determine the individual roles of those apprehended. Forensic and technical evidence is also being examined as the investigation continues.
