BH24 Breaking News

An Indian Army boat capsized in the Yamuna during a training exercise near Hathnikund Barrage in Haryana’s Yamunanagar district on Tuesday. The boat reportedly developed a technical fault during the drill before sinking in the river. The soldiers on board were wearing life jackets and jumped into the water. Some managed to reach the shore, while others were swept downstream by the strong current. A large rescue operation was launched soon after the incident.

Rescue Teams Search the Yamuna

Army personnel, police teams and disaster response units rushed to the area after the boat overturned. Teams from Haryana and Uttar Pradesh joined the search operation. The Indian Air Force also deployed helicopters to search the river and areas downstream. Officials reduced the flow of water in the Western Yamuna Canal to help the rescue teams. The Army boat was later recovered from the river.

The strong current has made the search difficult. Rescue teams have been checking different stretches of the river to locate the missing personnel. Local authorities are also coordinating with the Army during the operation. Officials are expected to provide more information as the search progresses.

Conflicting Reports on Missing Soldiers

Reports have differed on the exact number of soldiers who are missing. The Times of India reported that one soldier was missing, while three others reached safety. The Indian Express reported that two soldiers were missing and two had survived. Aaj Tak also reported that two soldiers remained unaccounted for.

The Army had not released an official statement confirming the final number when these reports were published. The identities of the missing personnel have also not been officially confirmed.

The incident occurred during a military training exercise and has triggered a major rescue effort in the area. Officials are now focused on locating the missing soldiers and confirming what happened. The technical fault reported in the boat will also be examined. Further details are expected once the Army and local authorities complete their assessment.
