H1N1 Cases Rise in India: ICMR Says No New Strain

BH24 Breaking News

H1N1 cases in India are rising, with Delhi reporting a significant increase in infections this year. However, health officials have urged people not to panic.

The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has clarified that no new H1N1 strain has been detected. Officials say the current increase is linked to seasonal influenza activity.

Delhi Reports Rise in H1N1 Cases

Delhi has recorded 1,777 H1N1 cases this year, according to recent health data. The rise has prompted authorities to strengthen surveillance and monitor influenza-like illnesses.

Health officials are also keeping an eye on severe respiratory infections. Hospitals are being monitored to ensure they can handle any increase in patients.

ICMR Says No New Strain Detected

ICMR has reassured the public that the current H1N1 cases are not linked to a newly emerged strain.

Officials said the circulating viruses are consistent with seasonal influenza patterns. Most infections are expected to remain mild and self-limiting.

The clarification comes amid growing concern over the rising number of reported cases.

H1N1 Symptoms to Watch

Common H1N1 symptoms include fever, cough, sore throat, headache, body ache and fatigue.

Most people recover with proper rest and supportive care. However, older adults, young children and people with underlying health conditions may face a higher risk of complications.

Health Authorities Urge Caution

Officials have advised people with flu-like symptoms to follow basic respiratory hygiene and avoid close contact with others when unwell.

People experiencing severe or worsening symptoms should seek medical attention.

For now, ICMR continues to monitor the situation and says the rise in H1N1 cases does not indicate the emergence of a new strain.
