Kota Civic Poll Results 2026: BJP Wins 55 Wards as EVM Glitches Delay Final Results
The Kota civic poll results 2026 have brought a clear victory for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The party has won 55 of the 100 wards in the Kota Municipal Corporation. The result gives BJP a majority in the civic body.
Congress has won 40 wards, while three wards have gone to Independent candidates. However, the final result is still pending in some areas because of technical problems with Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs).
Kota Civic Poll Results Face EVM Delay
The Kota civic poll results 2026 were affected by EVM glitches during the counting process. Results for Ward 11, Ward 44 and Ward 87 were put on hold after the machines developed technical problems.
A booth in Ward 4 of Suket Municipality was also affected. Officials have kept the affected machines secure while the election authorities complete the required process.
The Rajasthan State Election Commission has ordered re-polling in the affected booths. Voting is scheduled for September 16, while counting will take place on September 17. This means the final outcome of the affected seats will be known after the fresh polling.
Congress Demands Transparency After EVM Glitch
The EVM issue has also triggered a political dispute in Kota. Congress candidate Laxmi Sharma from Ward 87 protested outside the counting centre after the result was put on hold. Congress leaders demanded transparency in the handling of the affected EVM.
Election officials later secured the machine and sent a report through the returning officer for further directions. The authorities will now conduct fresh polling before finalising the affected results.
Despite the pending seats, BJP has already crossed the majority mark in the 100-member Kota Municipal Corporation. The party’s 55 declared wins give it a strong position in the civic body.
The fresh polling on September 16 will be closely watched, particularly in the wards where the results remain pending. The final counting on September 17 will complete the Kota civic poll process.
