IND vs ENG 4th T20I Highlights: England Thrash India by 9 Wickets to Seal Series in Bristol

9 0

England produced a dominant all-round performance to defeat India by nine wickets in the IND vs ENG 4th T20I at the Seat Unique Stadium in Bristol. Chasing 159, the hosts reached the target in just 13.5 overs, taking an unassailable 3-0 lead in the five-match T20I series.

Despite an unbeaten 80 from Shreyas Iyer, India’s batting struggled for momentum, while England’s aggressive opening partnership and clinical chase left the visitors with plenty to rethink ahead of the final match.

Shreyas Iyer Holds India’s Innings Together

After being asked to bat first, India lost wickets at regular intervals and failed to build meaningful partnerships. England’s pace attack made early inroads, putting the visitors under pressure inside the Powerplay.

Captain Shreyas Iyer stood firm amid the collapse. The right-hander played a composed yet attacking knock, finishing unbeaten on 80. He rotated the strike well and punished loose deliveries, ensuring India posted a competitive total despite limited support from the other end.

However, India’s middle order failed to capitalize. Frequent wickets prevented the visitors from accelerating in the death overs, and they finished with 158/7 in their 20 overs.

England’s Bowlers Keep India in Check

England’s bowling unit executed its plans with discipline throughout the innings. The pacers used the Bristol conditions effectively, while the spinners maintained pressure during the middle overs.

The hosts consistently picked up wickets at crucial moments, denying India the momentum needed for a total above 170. Their disciplined effort laid the perfect platform for the batting unit.

Harry Brook and Phil Salt Crush India’s Bowling

England’s chase began aggressively as Phil Salt and Harry Brook dominated the Indian attack from the outset.

Salt attacked both pace and spin, scoring a fluent 59, while Brook anchored the innings with an unbeaten 79. The pair found boundaries with ease and never allowed India’s bowlers to settle.

India struggled to create chances as England raced past 50 inside the Powerplay. The bowlers failed to generate consistent movement or apply pressure, allowing the hosts to dictate the game.

England eventually chased down the target in only 13.5 overs, completing one of their most convincing victories of the series.

Series Slips Away from India

The defeat means England have secured the five-match T20I series with one game remaining. While India have shown flashes of brilliance during the tour, inconsistent batting and ineffective bowling in crucial moments have proved costly.

Shreyas Iyer’s unbeaten fifty was one of the few positives for the visitors. However, the lack of support from the middle order and an expensive bowling performance ultimately decided the contest.

England, meanwhile, will head into the final T20I full of confidence after producing another complete team performance.

What’s Next?

Both teams will now prepare for the fifth and final T20I. India will aim to avoid a series whitewash and finish the tour on a positive note. England, on the other hand, will look to complete a dominant series victory in front of their home fans.
