New Delhi: Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has accused Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and the Congress party of using students as political tools during the ongoing protests over alleged examination irregularities. His remarks came after the Opposition staged demonstrations and demanded his resignation over the NEET controversy.
Dharmendra Pradhan Targets Congress
In a strongly worded statement, Pradhan said the Congress was more interested in creating political disruption than solving students’ concerns. He alleged that Rahul Gandhi and the party were “shamelessly exploiting students as political tools” to gain political mileage during the Monsoon Session of Parliament.
The minister added that students deserve accountability, transparency, and lasting reforms instead of political confrontation. He also criticised the Congress for organising protests outside Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s residence, calling them a political spectacle rather than a genuine effort to resolve educational issues.
Opposition Continues Protest
The Congress has been demanding Pradhan’s resignation over the handling of examination-related issues. Rahul Gandhi joined demonstrations supporting students and accused the government of failing to protect the integrity of competitive examinations. Several Opposition leaders also participated in the protests, increasing political pressure on the Centre.
Government Defends Its Stand
The Union government has maintained that it is committed to improving the examination system and discussing reforms in Parliament. Pradhan urged political parties to focus on constructive solutions rather than turning student concerns into political campaigns.
The exchange marks the latest escalation in the political battle over India’s examination system, with both the government and the Opposition blaming each other while student protests continue across parts of the country.
