Saayoni Ghosh Hopes Congress Aligns With TMC Under Rahul Gandhi’s Leadership

NCPI MP Saayoni Ghosh has expressed hope that the Congress will align with the Trinamool Congress (TMC) under Rahul Gandhi’s leadership.

Speaking to reporters in Kolkata, Ghosh said a closer partnership between the two parties could show that their alliance is a genuine political partnership.

Ghosh’s comments come at a time of increased political activity in West Bengal ahead of the Nandigram Assembly bypoll.

Congress and TMC have competed against each other in West Bengal in several elections. However, recent developments have brought their coordination into focus.

TMC has withdrawn its candidate from the Nandigram contest. The party has also announced its support for Congress candidate Milan Pradhan.

Milan Pradhan’s Arrest

Ghosh also spoke about Milan Pradhan’s arrest. She said she was aware of pending cases involving the Congress candidate.

She also said political parties have the right to approach the Election Commission or the courts when they have concerns.

Pradhan was arrested in connection with an old murder case shortly after TMC announced its support for him. The timing of the arrest has led to different political claims about its significance.

The Nandigram bypoll is scheduled for October 6.

The developments have put the Congress-TMC understanding and Milan Pradhan’s candidature at the centre of political discussion in West Bengal.
