The latest season of Bigg Boss has begun, and the grand premiere of Bigg Boss 20 came with exactly the mix viewers expect from the reality show—celebrity glamour, emotional stories, unexpected surprises and Salman Khan’s unmistakable sense of humour.
The September 6 premiere introduced 17 contestants who come from very different backgrounds. Television actors, singers, athletes, digital creators and performers have all entered the same house, making the new season one of the more diverse line-ups of the franchise.
But it wasn’t simply the contestant introductions that caught attention. Several personal conversations and unexpected interactions became the biggest talking points of the opening episode. From Isha Rikhi discussing a difficult chapter of her life to Salman making a candid comment about being single, the premiere moved easily between entertainment and emotion.
Salman Khan’s single-life comment grabs attention
Salman Khan returned to the Bigg Boss stage for another season, and his opening interaction with Bigg Boss itself became one of the lighter highlights.
During their conversation, Salman joked about both of them remaining single. The actor then made it clear, in his usual humorous style, that he was not ready to mingle.
The comment immediately added a playful personal touch to the premiere. Rather than turning the subject into a serious discussion about his private life, Salman kept the exchange casual and funny.
The show also acknowledged another major milestone for the actor—his 38 years in the Hindi film industry.
Isha Rikhi speaks about a painful chapter
One of the more emotional portions of the premiere came when actress Isha Rikhi opened up about her personal experiences.
Isha has remained in the public eye because of her past relationship with rapper Badshah. During her introduction, however, the conversation went beyond headlines and focused on how she dealt with the emotional impact of that period.
She appeared emotional while talking about her past, giving viewers a glimpse of a more vulnerable side of her personality.
Salman encouraged her to look ahead instead of allowing her past to control her new beginning. His advice shifted the conversation from what had happened before to what Isha could make of her time inside the Bigg Boss house.
Her entry could therefore become one of the season’s more personal storylines, particularly because she is entering the show at a time when audiences already have considerable interest in her life outside television.
Mary Kom receives a special surprise
The premiere also brought an emotional surprise for boxing icon Mary Kom.
Mary spoke about her connection with Salman Khan before receiving a special message from Priyanka Chopra Jonas. Priyanka had played Mary in the biographical film Mary Kom, making the video message particularly meaningful.
The moment connected Mary’s real-life sporting journey with one of the biggest cinematic portrayals of her life.
Her participation also gives Bigg Boss 20 a contestant from outside the conventional television and film circuit. It will be interesting to see how an elite sportsperson adapts to a reality-show environment built around constant interaction and unpredictable situations.
ScoutOp brings the creator economy into the house
Another major talking point was the entry of esports personality and content creator ScoutOp, whose real name is Tanmay Singh.
ScoutOp’s presence reflects how much India’s entertainment audience has changed. Digital creators now command fan bases comparable to mainstream television personalities, and Bigg Boss is increasingly bringing these internet stars into its format.
His entry was backed by messages from popular digital personalities including Elvish Yadav, Abhishek Malhan and CarryMinati.
ScoutOp also spoke about his income and revealed that he earns approximately ₹30 lakh per month. The statement quickly became one of the more discussed portions of his introduction.
Rhiti Tiwari creates a Bigg Boss family connection
Singer-songwriter Rhiti Tiwari entered the house with a familiar Bigg Boss connection—her father, Manoj Tiwari.
Manoj, who was previously a contestant on the show, returned to the stage this time as a parent supporting his daughter.
The moment gave Salman an opportunity to revisit Manoj’s earlier Bigg Boss memories, while Rhiti introduced herself through music by performing one of her original compositions.
Her entry brought a different tone to the premiere, combining family, music and the show’s own history.
Mahhi Vij reveals what can trigger her anger
Television actress Mahhi Vij also gave viewers an early glimpse of the personality she could bring into the house.
During her conversation with Salman, Mahhi spoke openly about her temper. She explained that certain things, particularly a lack of cleanliness and hygiene, can quickly irritate her.
Salman challenged the way she described her behaviour, pointing out the difference between having a temper and experiencing anger.
It may seem like a small exchange, but such personality traits can become important once contestants begin sharing the same living space. In Bigg Boss, everyday habits often become the starting point for much bigger arguments.
A season built around contrasting personalities
The new season has brought together contestants from different areas of entertainment and public life. The lineup includes names such as Kanika Mann, Mahhi Vij, Amrapali Dubey, Mary Kom, Arishfa Khan, Isha Rikhi, Aasif Khan, Qazi Touqeer, Rhiti Tiwari, ScoutOp and several other personalities.
That variety could become the defining feature of the season.
A professional athlete, a digital creator, television stars and performers are now expected to follow the same rules, complete the same tasks and live together without the privacy they are accustomed to outside the show.
And that is where the real entertainment is likely to begin.
The opening night sets the tone
The Bigg Boss 20 premiere managed to establish several possible storylines without revealing too much about what lies ahead.
Isha’s emotional conversation introduced a personal angle. Mary’s surprise message created an emotional high. ScoutOp highlighted the growing power of India’s digital entertainment industry, while Salman once again showed why his humour remains a central part of the show’s opening episodes.
But the grand premiere is only the introduction.
With 17 contestants now inside the house, the focus will shift from introductions to relationships, nominations, arguments, alliances and competition. The personalities that looked entertaining on the premiere stage will now have to deal with the much tougher reality of living together under constant observation.
Bigg Boss 20 has opened its doors. The real game starts now.
