Meerut Blue Drum Murder Case: Muskan and Sahil Anxious Before Sentencing

Meerut, Uttar Pradesh | October 14, 2026

The Meerut Blue Drum murder case has drawn widespread attention as a court prepares to announce the sentences for Muskan Rastogi and Sahil Shukla. According to an Aaj Tak report, both were reportedly anxious before the sentencing and had difficulty sleeping in jail.

The case involves the murder of Saurabh Rajput, a Merchant Navy officer, in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, in March 2025. Muskan, Saurabh’s wife, and Sahil were convicted by a court on September 30, 2026. The court was scheduled to announce their sentences on October 14.

Muskan and Sahil Reportedly Could Not Sleep

According to senior jail superintendent Viresh Raj Sharma, both convicts appeared worried about the upcoming court decision. The report said they ate very little during dinner and did not have breakfast the following morning.

Jail officials also reported that the two had difficulty sleeping through the night. Their health and behaviour were being monitored by the jail administration. Officials said counselling could be arranged if required.

Sahil Declined to Answer the Judge

During a court appearance through video conferencing, the judge asked Sahil whether he had committed any crime before this case. Sahil reportedly denied having committed an earlier crime.

When the judge asked what sentence he wanted, Sahil declined to answer. The judge then indicated that he would be connected again when the sentence was announced.

Muskan Wants to Meet Her Daughter

The report also said Muskan had expressed a strong desire to meet her daughter and family. Jail officials reportedly provided her with paper and a pen so she could write to her relatives under jail rules.

According to the report, Muskan often spent time in religious activities and preferred to remain alone. Officials said her behaviour, like Sahil’s, had changed as the sentencing date approached.

What Is the Meerut Blue Drum Murder Case?

The case concerns the murder of Saurabh Rajput in March 2025. Investigators alleged that his body was dismembered and concealed in a blue plastic drum filled with cement.

The case received widespread public attention because of the nature of the crime and the investigation that followed. After court proceedings and the presentation of evidence, Muskan Rastogi and Sahil Shukla were convicted on September 30, 2026.

The prosecution had sought the death penalty, according to media reports. The final punishment was a matter for the court to decide.

What Happens Next?

The sentencing hearing scheduled for October 14 was expected to determine the punishment for Muskan and Sahil. Jail officials said they were monitoring the pair’s health and behaviour while awaiting the court’s decision.

The case remains a major crime story in Meerut, with the victim’s family seeking strict punishment. The court’s sentencing order will determine the legal consequences for the two convicted individuals.
