India successfully defended their Asian Games men’s cricket title with a 19-run victory over Pakistan in the India vs Pakistan Asian Games 2026 final at Korogi Sports Park in Nisshin, Japan. Batting first after captain Shreyas Iyer won the toss, India posted 211/6 before restricting Pakistan to 192/6, completing a golden cricket double after the women’s team had also won the title.

Abhishek Sharma gives India a flying start

India’s innings was driven by an explosive 61 from Abhishek Sharma off 28 balls. He struck three fours and seven sixes, reaching his half-century in just 20 deliveries and giving India early momentum. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi added a quick 15, while Tilak Varma provided the finishing push with an unbeaten 51 off 22 balls. India’s 211/6 was the highest total of the Aichi-Nagoya Games men’s cricket competition.

Pakistan fought back through the middle overs, with Arafat Minhas taking 2/25 and Ahmed Daniyal claiming two wickets. India briefly slowed after Abhishek’s dismissal, but Tilak’s late assault helped lift the total past 200 and set Pakistan a daunting 212-run target.

Hasan Nawaz leads Pakistan’s fightback

Pakistan’s chase started badly as they slipped to 39/3 in the seventh over and were 76/3 at halfway. Hasan Nawaz then changed the complexion of the match, combining with Saim Ayub in an 87-run fourth-wicket partnership. Hasan attacked relentlessly, smashing 96 from 51 balls with five fours and seven sixes.

The partnership revived Pakistan’s hopes, but India regained control in the closing overs. Axar Patel and Washington Sundar both returned 2/29, while Shivam Dube finished with 2/33. Jasprit Bumrah also kept the scoring under pressure without taking a wicket.

Hasan carried Pakistan’s challenge to the final over but fell from the last ball, four runs short of a century. Pakistan finished 192/6, handing India a 19-run win, the gold medal, and a successful defence of their Asian Games crown in a tense finish in Nisshin.
