India continued its strong medal run at the Aichi-Nagoya Games as Asian Games 2026 India Day 14 delivered two more gold medals on October 2. The women’s recurve archery team created history, while boxer Lovlina Borgohain added another title as India’s overall medal count reached 70 in the latest available standings.
Historic gold for women’s recurve team
Ankita Bhakat, Kumkum Anil Mohod and Kirti produced one of India’s biggest results of the day by winning the women’s recurve team gold.
The Indian trio defeated archery powerhouse South Korea in the final to secure the country’s first-ever Asian Games gold in the women’s recurve team event.
Kumkum returned to the podium in the mixed recurve team event, partnering Dhiraj Bommadevara. The Indian pair finished with silver after losing to China in the gold-medal contest.
Lovlina Borgohain delivers boxing gold
Lovlina Borgohain added another major achievement to her career by winning the women’s 75kg boxing gold. With the victory, she became only the second Indian woman after Mary Kom to claim an Asian Games boxing title.
India also collected a bronze through Nethra Kumanan in the women’s sailing dinghy event.
The medal rush pushed India to 12 gold, 24 silver and 34 bronze medals, taking the overall tally to 70 and placing the country sixth in the latest standings.
More medal opportunities remained on Day 14, with Indian athletes scheduled to compete in boxing, wrestling, cycling and women’s hockey, among other events.
With competition still underway, Asian Games 2026 India Day 14 could bring further changes to the medal tally before the day concludes.
