Sri Lanka Women produced a superb comeback to defeat Pakistan by four wickets in the Women’s Asia Cup 2026 second semi-final in Dubai. The Pakistan Women vs Sri Lanka Women clash looked firmly in Pakistan’s control when Sri Lanka slipped to 33/4, but a crucial middle-order partnership changed the match.
Fatima Sana shines for Pakistan
After being asked to bat first, Pakistan struggled to build momentum but captain Fatima Sana kept the innings together. She scored an unbeaten 47 off 36 balls, helping Pakistan reach 130/5 in 20 overs.
Sri Lanka captain Chamari Athapaththu and Chamudi Praboda picked up two wickets each.
Fatima then made an immediate impact with the ball. She dismissed Athapaththu and Sanjana Kavindi in her opening over as Sri Lanka fell to 11/2. The defending champions were soon reduced to 33/4.
Sri Lanka complete impressive comeback
Harshitha Samarawickrama and Kavisha Dilhari rescued the chase with a vital 67-run fifth-wicket partnership. Harshitha scored 36, while Dilhari contributed 33.
Pakistan fought back again, but Nilakshika Silva and Kaushani Nuthyangana held their nerve at the finish. Sri Lanka reached 134/6 in 18.4 overs, sealing victory with eight balls remaining.
Fatima finished with four wickets and was named Player of the Match despite Pakistan’s defeat.
The result means Sri Lanka will now face India in the Women’s Asia Cup 2026 final on September 13 in Dubai. India qualified after beating Bangladesh by 40 runs in the first semi-final.
After a dramatic Pakistan Women vs Sri Lanka Women semi-final, the stage is now set for an India-Sri Lanka title clash.
