GATE 2027 Registration Begins Today: IIT Madras Opens Applications

GATE 2027 Registration has officially started today, August 27, 2026. IIT Madras has opened the online application process for candidates preparing to appear for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2027. Eligible candidates can now register through the official GATE portal.

GATE 2027 Registration: Important Dates

Candidates can submit their applications without a late fee until September 27, 2026. Those who miss the regular deadline can still apply with a late fee until October 5, 2026.

Candidates should complete the form carefully. They must provide accurate personal, academic and identification details before submitting the application.

IIT Madras Introduces Major Changes

GATE 2027 comes with some important updates. DigiLocker-based registration has been made mandatory for Indian nationals. Candidates should ensure their DigiLocker details are ready before starting the application process.

Another major change is the introduction of a new Robotics and Automation (RA) paper. The addition gives candidates another subject option and reflects the growing role of robotics and automation in engineering.

GATE 2027 Exam Dates

The GATE 2027 examination will be conducted on February 6, 7, 13, 14, 20 and 21, 2027. The exam will be held in multiple sessions.

Candidates are advised to check the official instructions before completing their forms. Applying early can also help candidates avoid last-minute technical issues.
