India secured the T20I series against Afghanistan with a seven-wicket win in the India vs Afghanistan 2nd T20I in New Delhi.
Afghanistan scored 159/8 in 20 overs. India chased the target in just 14.5 overs to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series.
Afghanistan Struggle Against India’s Bowling
Afghanistan lost early wickets and struggled to build momentum.
Captain Ibrahim Zadran was their top scorer with 37 runs. Darwish Rasooli added 26 runs to the total.
Rashid Khan and Mohammad Nabi tried to steady the innings in the final overs. Rashid scored 28 runs, but Afghanistan finished on 159/8.
Nitish Kumar Reddy was India’s leading bowler. He took 3 wickets for 24 runs.
Arshdeep Singh also picked up two wickets. Jasprit Bumrah made an early impact with the new ball.
Sanju Samson Leads India’s Chase
India started the chase strongly, led by Sanju Samson.
Samson scored a quick 57 and put pressure on the Afghan bowlers. Abhishek Sharma also played an important role, scoring 39 runs from 19 balls.
Ishan Kishan remained unbeaten on 38. Tilak Varma also stayed not out as India completed the chase with plenty of overs to spare.
The result gave India an unassailable 2-0 lead in the India vs Afghanistan 2nd T20I series.
The third and final T20I will be played on September 17 in Delhi.
