Indian Pilot Smit Machchhar Injured in Flydubai Cockpit Attack

Indian pilot Smit Machchhar was injured during a reported cockpit attack on a Flydubai flight from Dubai to Tel Aviv. The incident happened while the aircraft was carrying 174 people. Despite the emergency, the flight landed safely in Saudi Arabia.

Indian Pilot Smit Machchhar Attacked in Cockpit

The incident took place on Flydubai Flight FZ1073. The aircraft was flying from Dubai to Tel Aviv when the reported attack happened.

According to reports, the co-pilot allegedly attacked Machchhar inside the cockpit. The captain was injured during the incident. However, he managed to open the cockpit door.

Passengers and crew members then entered the cockpit. They helped restrain the co-pilot and assisted the injured captain. Authorities later arrested the co-pilot.

Flydubai Plane Lost 14,000 Feet

The situation became more serious when the aircraft reportedly lost around 14,000 feet in about 30 seconds. The flight also sent an emergency alert during the incident.

The pilots diverted the Boeing 737 MAX 8 to Tabuk in Saudi Arabia. The aircraft landed safely after the emergency diversion.

All passengers and crew members were accounted for after landing. The incident is now being investigated by Saudi authorities.

Smit Machchhar Taken to Hospital

After the aircraft landed, Machchhar was taken to a hospital for treatment. Reports said the Indian pilot underwent surgery for his injuries.

His condition was later reported as stable. Meanwhile, the co-pilot was taken into custody by authorities.
