19 0

The much-awaited Mahindra XEV 9S finally launches in India, and interestingly, it enters the market with a surprisingly aggressive introductory price of ₹19.95 lakh (ex-showroom). As a result, the SUV instantly becomes one of the most compelling electric options for large Indian families. Moreover, it is positioned as India’s first truly mass-market three-row electric SUV, which immediately separates it from everything currently on sale. Since it is built on Mahindra’s advanced INGLO EV platform, it promises a blend of performance, space, technology and safety that is rarely seen in this price bracket. Test drives begin on December 5, 2025, while bookings open on January 14, 2026, and deliveries commence on January 23, 2026.

Exterior Design of Mahindra XEV 9S

To begin with, the Mahindra XEV 9S SUV draws visual inspiration from the XEV 9e and the XUV.e8 concept. Consequently, it carries a clean, futuristic and expressive design language. At the front, the SUV features a closed grille, connected LED DRLs and triangular headlamps, all of which give it a distinct EV signature. Additionally, its long bonnet, muscular fenders and upright stance further enhance road presence.
Moving to the side, its 2,762mm wheelbase and pronounced overhangs maximize space, making it a genuinely practical 7-seater. The rear, meanwhile, looks sharp and modern with smoked LED tail lamps and a redesigned bumper.

Interior Design

Inside, the XEV 9S aims to offer a premium, lounge-like atmosphere. Most notably, it gets a striking coast-to-coast triple-screen dashboard setup. This includes a digital driver display, a central infotainment unit and a dedicated passenger display. Additionally, rear occupants get two more screens along with BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) mounts, which makes the cabin entertainment heavy.
Furthermore, a panoramic sky roof, soft-touch materials and laminated acoustic glass boost the sense of openness and refinement. Even base variants come loaded with features like sliding second-row seats, wireless charging and multiple climate modes such as Keep Mode, Camp Mode and PayPal.

Mahindra XEV 9S: Battery, Range & Performance

Mahindra offers three battery options—59kWh, 70kWh and 79kWh. Therefore, depending on the variant, power output rises up to 210kW with 380Nm. As a result, the SUV can accelerate from 0–100 km/h in just 7.0 seconds in top trims.
>Moreover, thanks to its advanced battery system, the SUV delivers up to 500km of real-world range, while DC fast charging (20–80%) takes as little as 20 minutes. Additionally, features like multi-step regen, Boost Mode, one-pedal driving and four driving modes—Default, Range, Race and Everyday—enhance driving dynamics.

Comfort & Convenience

With 4,076 litres of combined cabin space, the XEV 9S easily becomes one of the roomiest electric SUVs in India. Additionally, the third row gets 50:50 split seats, while the second row offers ventilation and sliding adjustments. Practical additions such as flush door handles, 65W USB-C fast charging, cooled console and auto-folding mirrors make daily usage easier.

Safety & ADAS

Safety remains a top priority with up to 7 airbags, a strong body shell, TPMS, electronic brake booster and all-wheel disc brakes. Higher variants also include Level 2 and Level 2+ ADAS, offering lane centring, blind spot detection, emergency steering assist and cross-traffic alerts.

Conclusion

In conclusion, the Mahindra XEV 9S stands in a category of its own. Not only is it India’s only mass-market 7-seater EV, but it also combines space, features and affordability in a way no rival currently does. Therefore, it has all the ingredients to become one of Mahindra’s most successful launches to date.
