Nagpur is all set to host the much-awaited Diet Fest 2025, an event dedicated to promoting healthy eating habits, sustainable food choices and self-cultivation initiatives among the citizens. The three-day festival, to be held at the Nagpur Exhibition Center from March 15 to March 17, 2025, will bring together nutritionists, farmers, organic food brands, health enthusiasts and local entrepreneurs under one roof.

The program aims to encourage people to adopt nutritious, locally grown food, while inspiring urban communities to take up small-scale farming and kitchen gardening. The Diet Fest 2025, organized by Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) in collaboration with Maharashtra’s Agriculture and Health Department, is expected to attract thousands of visitors from across the state.

Focus on nutrition and sustainable living

The central theme of Diet Fest 2025 is “Healthy Food, Healthy Future”. The festival highlights the growing need to move towards a balanced diet and sustainable farming practices. With rising lifestyle diseases like diabetes and obesity and increasing use of processed foods, the program aims to educate people about the long-term benefits of eating fresh, organic and seasonal produce.

Visitors will have the opportunity to participate in workshops and live demonstrations conducted by nutritionists and chefs on topics such as balanced meal planning, food labeling and immunity-boosting diets. Experts will also discuss the importance of traditional Indian superfoods like millets, pulses and green leafy vegetables in the daily diet.

Special focus will be on “Farm-to-Plate” concepts, emphasizing the importance of sourcing food directly from farmers and encouraging home-based farming through kitchen gardens and rooftop farming.

Self-Farming: A Step Toward Food Independence

One of the key attractions of the Diet Fest 2025 is its focus on self-farming initiatives. In recent years, urban residents have shown growing interest in cultivating vegetables and herbs in their balconies, rooftops, and community gardens.

The event will host interactive workshops where experts will teach visitors how to start their own organic gardens using simple techniques. Topics will include composting, soil health, seed preservation, and hydroponic farming methods.

To further promote the idea, the Nagpur Urban Farming Collective will set up stalls displaying live demonstrations of home-grown vegetables, bio-fertilizers, and sustainable irrigation systems. Participants will also get hands-on experience in sowing seeds and creating compost from kitchen waste.

NMC officials have announced that special kits containing organic seeds, fertilizers, and gardening tools will be distributed to the first 1,000 participants who register for the fest. This initiative aims to make every household in Nagpur capable of growing at least a portion of its own food.

Healthy Food Exhibitions and Farmer Interaction Zones

The festival will feature an exclusive Healthy Food Exhibition, where local farmers, startups, and food brands will showcase organic produce, millets, natural juices, plant-based products, and chemical-free snacks. The exhibition is designed to promote locally made, eco-friendly, and sustainable food alternatives.

In the Farmer Interaction Zone, visitors will get a chance to meet progressive farmers who have successfully adopted organic and regenerative farming methods. These sessions aim to inspire young farmers and urban dwellers to reconnect with agriculture and understand its role in promoting better health.

The fest will also include stalls by women’s self-help groups (SHGs) from rural Maharashtra, selling homemade pickles, jams, and herbal products. These initiatives not only empower women but also promote traditional recipes and local food heritage.

Expert Talks and Fitness Workshops

Diet Fest 2025 will feature a lineup of health experts, fitness coaches, and doctors who will conduct panel discussions on topics such as nutrition for all age groups, healthy weight management, and the connection between diet and mental well-being.

Renowned nutritionist Dr. Shalini Deshmukh, one of the event’s keynote speakers, stated,

“Our goal is to make people understand that healthy eating doesn’t mean expensive eating. It’s about making informed food choices, understanding nutrition labels, and supporting local farmers.”

In addition to expert talks, the event will also host morning yoga sessions, Zumba classes, and meditation workshops, encouraging holistic wellness and physical activity as part of a healthy lifestyle.

A unique segment titled “Cook Smart, Eat Smart” will see celebrity chefs from Nagpur and Mumbai demonstrating creative ways to prepare nutritious meals without compromising taste. The emphasis will be on minimizing food waste and maximizing nutritional value.

Youth and School Engagement Programs

To involve the younger generation, Diet Fest 2025 will include school awareness campaigns and student competitions on healthy eating habits. Schools across Nagpur have been invited to participate in essay writing, poster-making, and cooking contests focused on sustainability and nutrition.

The “Green Plate Challenge” for students will encourage innovative ideas on waste-free meals, reducing plastic use, and designing eco-friendly lunchboxes. These activities aim to instill lifelong awareness about health and the environment among children and teenagers.

Government Support and Community Participation

The Maharashtra government has extended full support to the Diet Fest, considering it an important step toward building a “Healthy Maharashtra.” Local municipal authorities have partnered with health and agriculture departments to ensure wide public participation.

According to Mayor Pramila Sakhare,

“The Diet Fest is not just an event but a movement. It encourages every citizen to rethink what they eat, where it comes from, and how it affects the environment.”

Officials are also planning to launch a “Healthy Nagpur” campaign during the fest, promoting public health awareness, organic farming, and nutritional education programs across schools and colleges.

Looking Ahead: A Sustainable Future

As health and environmental concerns continue to rise, Diet Fest 2025 is seen as a crucial step toward creating awareness about the connection between food, lifestyle, and sustainability. With its focus on local farming, organic produce, and self-reliance, the festival is expected to inspire thousands to adopt healthier habits and greener choices.

The event will not only boost local farmers and food entrepreneurs but also serve as a reminder that the path to a healthier future begins with what’s on our plates.

With its blend of health education, entertainment, and innovation, Diet Fest 2025 in Nagpur promises to be more than just a food festival—it’s a celebration of conscious living, sustainable choices, and community well-being.
